Editor’s note

Recent reviewers describe Princess Nails Salon as a place of long-standing loyalty, with one customer saying they have been coming for over eight years and praising the attentive service and long-lasting gel polish. Another reviewer has been visiting since before 2017 and says that Lily's professional skill keeps them coming back, adding that she is only ever recommending what is needed.

Experiences were mixed on other visits. Some reviewers felt pressured to upgrade their treatments, and a few said the colour sample process and pricing were confusing, with one describing a friendly manicurist who helped resolve a labelling issue during an otherwise unsatisfying visit. Several reviewers mentioned skilled beautician work even where the overall experience fell short for them.

“Malaysian lady from Ipoh kept upselling me several times, asking me to do a full pedi despite me only wanting an express pedi. She then went on to comment on my dry + dead skin. She said I could only try on 3 colours. It's only after I chose the colours that she told me I had to add an additional $5 for those colours. I then held my ground and said I did not want to pick those then, and she then said I could only pick one other colour and that was the final colour. She then promptly kept the basket which contained the sample colours. She wasn't unfriendly per se, but I felt she could have exercised more flexibility in this regard. What is a few more colours to try, to her? I won't be coming back again.”

“Hard selling throughout my bojin session with beautician Kelly. Her skill was good but I won't return given the hard selling experience. When I did not sign up for either of the 5 or 10 sessions she offered, she charged me $68 inside of the advertised $38. When I queried on the price difference, she shared promo stated outside the outlet was outdated!”

“Have been coming to Princess Nail since 2017 or earlier. I always asked for Lily since she started 9years ago. She may not be the most friendly person when we first met but she is skillful and only sell you what is needed. I find her professional and hence always asked to be served by her. Overtime, we have became friends and I will continue to come to Princess as long as she is here.”

“Second time customer here. Today I picked 3 nail colours to try. One colour had a $5 top-up, which was fine. Another colour also had a $5 top-up even though it was not clearly labelled on the palette. One of my colours was out of stock. The middle-aged lady with a bun did not offer any alternative options or support to choose another colour from the palette. I had a similar experience on my previous visit when she was attending to my husband. Her tone and body language came across as rude and unhelpful. I felt I was being directed to only choose one colour which is left with. When I pointed to look at the palette again, she seemed annoyed, which made the experience uncomfortable and rude The manicurist who did my nails was very friendly and helpful, and even spoke to the manager about the unclear labelling, which I appreciated. At the end, the manager apologised and offered to waive the additional fee, but I paid with with additional fee. I then cancelled my husband’s appointment due to the overall experience.”
