“0 stars. I rated 1 star only because that is the minimum required to submit a Google review. Extremely disappointing experience at Chen Kang Wellness, NEX. My daughter and I decided to have a neck and shoulder massage after dinner and were assigned two female masseurs. The difference in service quality was glaring. My daughter’s masseur was professional and diligent. Mine, unfortunately, displayed poor massage skills and seemed unable to identify or work on the knots and tension in my shoulders. Instead, she kept stretching and pulling my arms. I came for a massage, not a stretching session. Even more ridiculous — this was supposed to be a neck and shoulder massage, yet she barely attempted to massage my neck. How can you advertise and charge for a neck and shoulder massage when the neck is essentially ignored? My daughter started slightly before me, yet my session ended approximately 5–7 minutes before hers. The whole experience left me with the impression that the masseur was more interested in quickly finishing her work and going home than providing the service I had paid for. I raised my dissatisfaction with the receptionist, including both the poor massage and the staff member’s attitude. Instead of attempting any meaningful service recovery, she told me that she “doesn’t manage the staff, she only manages the customers” and repeatedly asked me, “What do you want?” Most astonishingly, she openly admitted that she lacked training and therefore did not know how to handle customers in such situations. That response says a lot about the service standards at this outlet. If you are responsible for managing customers, handling complaints and service recovery should be one of the most basic requirements of the job. A disappointing massage is one issue. Poor attitude, inadequate training and a complete lack of proper service recovery turned it into an unacceptable experience. Management seriously needs to review the training, professionalism and service standards at this outlet. Definitely not the experience I expected from Chen Kang Wellness.”
