Editor’s note

Recent reviewers often praise the technicians for their skill and attentiveness, with Jia Yi praised for her attentive, skilled work and Sharon noted for her nail art skills. Several describe a warm welcome from the team, and one customer highlighted Kat spending three hours on detailed designs.

Reviewers frequently mention a healthy, smooth finish and visible improvement over time, such as brittle nails growing stronger and a very smooth, shiny polish finish. Some note the antifungal pedicure treatment as effective, and one reviewer mentioned the option to choose between gel and classic pedicures.

Reviews are mixed on the sales approach: a few found the process pushy, while others said they experienced no hard selling at all. One reviewer was unhappy with how their manicure was handled and how long the polish lasted.

“I am disappointed with the service my daughter and I received during our visit to your salon today. We both came in for a gel soak-off, as the gel had previously been done at your salon, and I also opted for a regular polish manicure instead of gel this time. From the moment we arrived, the staff did not appear particularly welcoming. I could not help but wonder if this was because we had chosen not to have gel services during this visit. For my manicure, I requested my usual application of four thin coats of colour (applied as two coats followed by another two coats), excluding the base coat and top coat. However, Ms. Xuan applied the coats one after another without allowing sufficient drying time between each layer. While I was placing my hands into the nail drying fan, both of my thumbs accidentally touched the fan, causing the polish to smudge. Instead of removing the affected polish and reapplying it properly, she simply applied another layer of top coat over the smudged area. After the manicure, I was given only about 10 minutes to dry my nails before being told I could leave. My niece suggested that I wait a little longer, so we stayed for another 10 minutes. Despite this, as I was preparing to leave, I accidentally brushed one nail against another finger, and the polish scraped off so easily that the base of my nail was exposed. This clearly indicated that the polish had not been given sufficient time to set. During my previous visits, I was always offered a quick-dry treatment to help the polish cure more effectively. This was not offered during this appointment, and I unfortunately overlooked asking for it myself. When I asked why my nails had not been given enough time to dry, Ms. Xuan simply replied, "Normal nail polish is like that." When I explained that this had never been my experience during previous visits to your salon, she did not provide any further explanation or attempt to address my concerns. In addition, the electric nail drill used during the gel soak-off was quite painful. I believe greater care should have been taken to ensure the removal process was carried out gently and comfortably. As a returning customer with an existing package, I expected a much higher standard of service. What disappointed me most was not just the quality of the treatment, but the overall lack of professionalism, attentiveness, and customer care throughout the appointment. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously, review the service provided, and take the necessary steps to improve both service standards and the overall customer experience. I would also appreciate a response regarding how this matter will be addressed.”

“Jia Yi has always been my go-to nail technician at Pixie Nail. She has been my manicurist for over five years, and her service has been consistently exceptional. When she was transferred to Dhoby Ghaut, I was honestly quite devastated and chose not to renew my sessions, as I couldn’t find the same level of care and quality with others. Jia Yi is truly one of a kind, a real gem and a valuable asset to Pixie Nail. I sincerely hope the owner recognizes her worth and considers having her continue at the Tanjong Pagar (Guoco) branch. Kudos to you, Jia Yi! You are highly recommended and truly exceptional.”
