Editor’s note

Recent reviewers praised the warmth and attentiveness of staff, with one customer singling out Anna for careful, pain-free care during an ingrown toenail treatment and another describing Yumin as courteous and genuinely hospitable. Several noted that a nail technician was attentive during the pedicure and that the service felt relaxed, without a hard sell in their visit.

Other reviews were far less positive, and one recent visitor found the constant pressure to buy packages overwhelming, which left them feeling unwelcome. Some reviewers also felt that gel nail services and pricing were not made clear before treatment began, and that touch-ups or results did not always meet expectations.

“Extremely disappointed with my experience here. I walked in specifically to enquire about the price and waited for my turn. While I was on the phone, the staff started the pedicure. I clearly confirmed with her that removal was an additional $20, making the total $59. Halfway through the service, she asked if I wanted to do gel pedicure. I said yes, as gel pedicure was actually the service I had originally intended to get. Only then was I told that the price was $108 + $20. She then said she could waive the $20 removal fee. This was extremely frustrating because by the time the actual pricing was communicated, the service had already started. I was put in a very uncomfortable position where stopping the service was no longer practical. What made things worse was that I checked their website and found that the pricing displayed online was different from the pamphlet in the store. When I questioned this, I was simply told that the website pricing was wrong and that they would follow the pamphlet price. This is completely unacceptable. If your website and in-store pricing are different, customers should not be expected to bear the confusion. More importantly, the FULL price should be clearly communicated and confirmed with the customer BEFORE any service begins. The lack of transparency and communication is extremely disappointing. I left feeling misled and dissatisfied with the entire experience. Definitely would NOT recommend this place.”

“As a service provider myself, I was deeply impressed by the service provided by Yumin. She was consistently courteous, warm, and friendly throughout our interaction. Her genuine hospitality and positive attitude made me feel welcomed and well cared for, and she carried herself with a level of professionalism that truly stood out!”

“Will give zero stars if I can Only 5 slabs of gel colour do not require additional costs. A few (Malaysian staff) are VERY unfriendly. More to the extent of having attitude problems. Viet origin staff were much more better! Been visiting other outlets of theirs and I would say this is one of the worst outlets.”

“This, including the Ion one - Picota nail spa, are really terrible in service. They hard sell packages to you, and after that give you the lousiest service ever. Their main aim is to trap you in packages and they won't key in the payment you need to make (for any top-up service) and when I was in a hurry to go, I just cave in. I only "escaped" once when they were too fully booked with appointments to continue with the accosting. At first I thought it only happened at Ion so moved to NEX but the same thing happened! The last time I was there, there was another customer scolding them for pressuring their sister to buy yet another package. I was a bit worried about their bad moods (including the one serving me) so I just sing along to say they should know the packages they buy. Generally after you purchase the package, they give you minimum level of service, like you owe them something. They would even talked loudly among themselves, so there is no way you can relax at all! Truth is I am really sick and tired of their lack of service. All the gel nail colours had additional charges, even with packages bought. I found one that had no charge and was impressed with the manicurist's care in putting it on my nails, turn out it's because she knew that the quality is poor as I had to go back within a few days cos one chipped. The girl who did the retouching was most unwilling, just tried to "mend" it until I said that it wasn't nice. She was most unhappy and kept moving my hand roughly in and out of the UV lamp. and at the end, still one small part was a bit "distorted" cos of the way she shoved my hand, but I was sick and tired so I accepted it and left. Within a week another chipped then another, I was so busy, didn't want to go back, I am not having ugly chipped nails and would be attending Christmas events like that URGH!”

“I have decided not return to sign up for any more packages, despite still having two remaining sessions. This decision comes after an unacceptable experience with one of the staff member just now. When I politely declined to sign up for a so-called "special offer" she was offering me—$300 for a gel pedicure plus treatment per session—she responded with a remark which now i think of it as rude and cursing. I had explained that I preferred to wait until December to consider any packages, as I will be travelling frequently for work and do not wish to commit now. In response, she remarked that the price would be $444 if i come back in December. While I initially brushed it off as a joke, upon reflection I found this comment rude and possibly sarcastic. In Chinese culture, the number 444 is regarded as extremely inauspicious, and referencing it in that way felt both disrespectful and unprofessional. This experience has left a very negative impression, and I’ve decided not to return—even with two sessions left.”
