Editor’s note

Reviewers praised the detailed work of staff member Lin, who was described as very good at service. Several recent reviewers were unhappy with their experience, and the criticism centred on how service was handled, from packages that were not recognised to a concern about a pedicure tub that was not taken seriously. One reviewer also said the nails did not last long after their visit, and another felt the staff were not making them feel welcome.

Lin's detailed work stood out as the main point of praise in the positive review. Mixed as the feedback is, the concerns raised by recent reviewers focused mostly on how service was handled.

“Paid more than 120$ and my nails are breaking under a week. The nail artist made me bleed and I had to ask to change the shapes and length multiple times since all nails were uneven. I came in for a refill and had to pay 20$ per nail that I had lost, and I had to pay extra for cutting my cuticles too which I said no. So much money for a miserable result. Never going again.”

“I had a very disappointing experience at this outlet yesterday, particularly with the service and attitude of the manicurist, Jenny. I walked in with my daughter intending to do manicure and pedicure for both of us. After we sat down, I informed Jenny that I wanted to use the children’s pedicure package that I had previously purchased specifically for my daughter. I was then told that my daughter’s age was not eligible for the package. This was surprising because at the point of purchase, the staff knew the package was for my daughter. During my subsequent visits, I was even encouraged to purchase more sessions, which thankfully I declined. The next issue was hygiene. I noticed that the pedicure tub was dirty and pointed it out to Jenny. Instead of properly addressing my concern, she told me that it was “like that” and could not be cleaned, and simply rinsed the tub with water. I was offered another tub, but by then I was uncomfortable with both the cleanliness and the dismissive way my concern was handled, so I decided not to proceed with the pedicure. Later, my daughter wanted to add nail colour and we were told there would be a $10 top-up. I mentioned that I had a $500 cash credit package that I had previously used to offset services. Jenny told me that I did not have this package and said that if it was not purchased from her branch, it would not be reflected. I purchased it at Westgate, and both Westgate and Marina Square had previously been able to see my credits and would even remind me that I could use them to offset services. Instead of checking further, I was simply told that I did not have the package. At this point, I explained directly that I was unhappy with how the entire situation had been handled. While she was still in the middle of providing my service, Jenny then went to wash another pedicure tub in front of me, apparently to demonstrate that the condition of the tub was normal. I found this inappropriate and unhygienic. If you are already attending to a customer's pedicure, why would you stop midway to handle and clean another tub and then return to the customer's service? What surprised me most was when I finally asked to speak to the manager. The other manicurist informed me that Jenny herself was the manager. That was extremely disappointing. My concerns were not about paying an extra $10 or insisting on using something I was not entitled to. They were about conflicting information regarding packages I had paid for, cleanliness and hygiene, and the dismissive manner in which reasonable customer feedback was handled. As the manager, I would have expected her to take the initiative to verify my package records, address a hygiene concern professionally, and de-escalate the situation rather than make a returning customer feel brushed off. I have visited other outlets without experiencing this type of service, which made this encounter even more disappointing. I sincerely hope the company looks into what happened and reviews the service and hygiene standards at this outlet.”

“Nearly empty during peak hours—now I know why. The nail polish was expired and wouldn’t dry. The manicure had to be redone twice just to look acceptable. I was also overcharged at $49++ for express manicure, including $20 for removing existing manicure and addition of $10 for nail colour). Very unpleasant experience. Would not recommend.”
