Editor’s note

Reviewers describe a salon where the main recurring theme is an extra-charges-and-sales-pressure experience, with several recent reviewers saying they felt pushed to buy add-ons and packages. One reviewer was unhappy with how rushed the appointments felt, and another was frustrated with how often a package could be used.

Reviewers who were satisfied did not leave detailed praise in this sample, and the most detailed feedback centres on upselling and add-on charges and rushed, unsettled service. Recent reviewers also raised concerns about the package booking rules, which one customer found limiting over the course of a year.

Overall, the reviews are largely critical, so readers may find it useful to read the full text of each comment.

“Do not go this outlet! Hard selling from the moment the service started. We are first timers there and didn’t know that adding sea salt into the foot bath would cost us $20 each. Didn’t even told us that a spoonful of salt is $20 before adding. Environment in Hillion outlet is messy and the chairs with massage machines are old and broken down. Pressured us to take up their package thankfully we keep saying no and left without buying. Paid the $20 sea salt each as a lesson for us not to go there anymore.”

“Terrible experience. The entire appointment felt like one aggressive upselling attempt after another. Almost everything required an extra charge: $25 for a better base, $78 for more careful cuticle removal, $128+ for a so-called “bacteria treatment,” and even $188 to trim ONE toenail after claiming I had an ingrown nail. When I declined the add-ons, the staff’s attitude changed immediately. They looked unhappy and the rest of the service felt careless and rushed. A customer should not be pressured, frightened with claims about bacteria or nail problems, and then treated poorly for saying no. Extremely unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this place.”

“Visited Pixie Nail Spa for gel removal, cuticle care, and a foot treatment including ingrown nail removal services that came up to over $100. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The technician was heavy-handed during the treatment, resulting in broken skin and a bleeding toe that I’ve had to tend to at home. For a salon at this price point, I expected a higher standard of care and precision especially for something as delicate as ingrown nail treatment. Sadly, the service did not reflect the cost, and what should have been a relaxing self-care session became quite the opposite. I wish the team well, but this will be my last visit. I’d encourage the management to review their technicians’ technique”

“I took a package from Pixie, and I am so relieved that it's finally over as half of the time you cannot avail your package, because they have this weird rule that if your service falls two weeks before or after a public holiday, then you cannot use your package for it. Now do your math, considering how the public holidays are spread across the year, you can understand my frustration that how many months you cannot use your package. Also, in their service list it clearly says 5 min massage with pedicure, and I have never got one. The service is always rushed and with no care given to the process. I would always come back home and then clean and file my own nails again.”
