Editor’s note

Reviewers describe good gel manicure and pedicure work, with several praising staff by name, including Sylvia and Evelyn for a memorable session and Kelly for detailed nail removal and painting. One visitor enjoyed a relaxed, friendly pedicure that helped tired feet, while another valued the positive work attitude and nail art that friends admired.

Many recent reviewers, however, raised concerns about pushy package sales and feeling pressured to extend sessions or buy add-ons. A few said the sales focus made their visit more stressful, and one reviewer was unhappy that a pedicure included without a massage was not made clear beforehand.

Some reviewers also noted that staff attitudes varied and that pricing was not always clear upfront, with one mentioning the absence of a visible price list.

“-Called on 3 Oct to book appointment before purchasing via Fave -Was informed by staff not to purchase via Fave and to make payment in store as Fave bookings are fully booked - sought confirmation that price will be as per Fave voucher nonetheless and no extra charges. -Booked appointment on 4 Oct and when i arrived, was informed there is additional GST charges for appointments scheduled less than 3 days prior to booked appointment (this was not mentioned on the phone). I opted to proceed instead of a wasted trip down, noting it was only about $2 more -Voucher showed that classic pedicure came with massage hence I had opted for it. -Session ended without any massage done. When i clarified, the staff informed me that Marina Square “does not have a massage license”. In that case, this should have been mentioned upfront and the voucher should have been updated to reflect this, instead of letting the customer find out only when clarifying if this segment was forgotten. Ended up topping up for quick drying. Overall quality is quite good, however disappointed by the lack of transparency and did not get to enjoy the self care i was hoping for.”

“I’ve been with pixie for more than 1 year.. Quality of gel mani and pedi is good but all VERY HARD SELLERS. every appointment i am “forced” to purchase packages/ extend credits. if you don’t, they’ll show their disappointment. it would take at least a good 10 mins to reject them politely until it gets frustrating. Tip: Just sign for the services on that day and walk out. suggest to go there for their alacarte services and not sign a package as it would be impossible to “finish up your package” and leave for another company. Low key regretting extending my packages since the start.”

“overall the experience of the actual service was quite good, staff were friendly and welcoming. but the main reason for the 3 stars was that they were very pushy with the packages and hard selling at any chance they get. end up we were pressured to buy the package. I wouldn’t say the packages that they pushed were bad, it’s just it was like they couldn’t take no for an answer.”

“They Cut my nail skin until bleed because of busy talking about buying their package. Fungus treatment cost $4xx per person, callus treatment cost $98 per person, but it’s not even effective for the cost, it’s way too overpriced and overall service is bad as they focus on selling you package. Very disappointing👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻”
